Folk is whatever it wants to be! We are what’s right for now because the most constant trait about FOLK is that we are constantly evolving. The fun thing about being an owner run restaurant is that we get to make the space in our own image as it were, always finding ways to adapt and grow. It’s the little things that make the difference. We want our family and friends to eat our food, so, the food is freshly made, seasonal, ethical and developed to satisfy most dietary requirements, with plant based and gluten free options in abundance. We choose every ingredient that goes in so the menu represents a LOVE OF FOOD, good food, ethical food, wholesome food, beautiful food! The WINE LIST is selected based on a true appreciation for the Cape’s abundance (and a desire not to have to deal with the consequences of being forced to drink bad wine!). The BEER on tap is crafted by real hops and barley nerds who’s major competition behind the bar is the famous COFFEE produced by the roasting geeks in our family. More than that, this place is what we want it to be, what we would want if we were going out to a restaurant. Its sort of an ode to the old saying “BE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD”. So WIFI is always on (even during load shedding), the FIREPLACE roars on cold wintery days, we have a GENERATOR to help Eskom out when they are having a bad day and there is always an eclectic mix of MUSIC to keep your feet tapping and your head bobbing. The kids are kept entertained in the PLAYGROUND whilst you chill in the garden or roam around the DELI which is filled with both temptation and practicality! Conveniently pick up your essentials (chocolate brownies, butter croissants, whole cakes etc) and non-essentials (organic veg, fresh sourdough, milk and free range eggs and beef) whilst you visit. At Folk there is always a very special TEAM of extraordinary people who are on hand to share your experience with you and ensure you have a fantastic visit and of course, last but not least, being in St James we have the perfect BEACH side location, next to a mountain, with SEA VIEWS and an ocean breeze. Yes its sounds amazing! It is! Folk is more than a restaurant or collection of offerings, Folk is a place you have to visit because it is an experience.
